Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus Review – The Samsung Galaxy A series is designed for a certain type of customer: those who want a simple smartphone and high quality workmanship. We have carefully tested the 6-inch Galaxy A6 Plus and indicated in this article what buyers can expect. The smartphone costs around 370 euros (~ 425 dollars, international version ~ 350 dollars).
The Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus is a mid-range smartphone whose specifications are attractive on paper: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 and an Adreno 506 graphics unit are important assets, but at the suggested retail price of 370 euros (~ 425 USD; international version ~ 350 USD), the device costs too much. With 32 GB of flash storage and 3 GB of RAM, buyers can at least expect the Android 8.1 system to work properly. Version 9.0 of the Samsung user experience serves as a user interface for the smartphone. We tested the configuration of the A6 Plus available in Germany; There is also an international version on the market with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash storage.
Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus Review
The competition is strong in the price range of 300 to 400 euros (~ 350 to 465 dollars). We have reduced the devices to a few models. Although the Galaxy A6 + can already be purchased for less than 300 euros (about $ 350) from various retailers, we have ranked the competition based on the recommended retail price of 370 euros (about $ 430). Devices with a similar price-performance ratio include Huawei P20 Lite, HTC U11 Life, Sony Xperia XA2, BQ Aquaris X Pro and Nokia 7 Plus, among others. You should also take a look at the previous model, the Samsung Galaxy A5.
Samsung gave the Galaxy A6 Plus screen a lot of space, but left the usual notch on the top edge. As a result, the speaker, the front camera and other bars are visible from the front, top and bottom of the unit. The edges and the back are made of sturdy metal, but several plastic ornaments along the covered antennas for the wireless, GPS and NFC modules are designed to prevent the metal from interfering with the communication.
Two slots for the main SIM card and a second SIM card and a memory card are located on the left side of the device. This means that the installation of a microSD does not prevent the user from using the dual SIM function. The power button and volume control fit perfectly in your case. A conventional 3.5mm jack allows the user to connect a headset. The smartphone charges and transfers data through a micro USB connection.
The Galaxy A6 + runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 and Adreno 506 graphics unit. This mid-range configuration is complemented by 32 GB of storage space and 3 or 4 GB of RAM. Users who wish to install two SIM cards on the Samsung smartphone do not necessarily have to do so without memory expansion. Two slots on the left side of the unit are equipped to house these cards.
Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus Software
Android Oreo Version 8.0 and Experience UI Version 9.0 from the manufacturer run on the Samsung A6 +. Security updates are dated April 1, 2018. Samsung’s user interface has no significant new features. Bixby is back on board (although he still can’t speak German with us).
Pre-installed programs include several Microsoft and Facebook applications, which can only be disabled in the software menu. It is not possible to store applications on an SD card or format the card as internal memory. In addition, it is not possible to configure multiple users on the Galaxy smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus Communication
The Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus offers a variety of ways to get in touch with the outside world. In addition to supporting GSM and 3G technologies, the smartphone can establish Cat. 6 LTE connections with a download speed of up to 300 Mbps and data downloads of up to 50 Mbps.
Wireless connections according to a / b / g standards can be established through the integrated WLAN module. In our tests, the Galaxy A6 + transfer rates were below average. Our test device received data at a speed slightly higher than 120 Mbps, which placed them at the bottom of the competition.
The Samsung smartphone is based on GPS, GLONASS and Beidu for navigation and location services. We use the GPS test application to determine the accuracy with which the Galaxy A6 + could position us. Outside, the smartphone has located us less than three meters from our current location. Even indoors, the satellite connection remained stable, although the accuracy was reduced to 12 meters (~ 40 feet).
The accuracy of our test device in this regard was again verified by our mandatory bike ride. The deviations of our Garmin Edge 500 reference device were small and appeared mainly in curves and between very nearby buildings. At the end of the bike ride, the data we collected from both devices was quite similar. Only the two altitude change records were somewhat disparate.
